Fort Bragg City Hall
Renovation and Accessibility Upgrade
Fort Bragg, CA
|
Originally constructed as a community center, this 1921 building boasted
Victorian trim, numerous windows with shutters and planter boxes, and a
centered formal entrance portico.
As part of a "modernization" effort in 1958, all the decorative cornices and
features, many windows and the entrance portal were removed.
The City of Fort Bragg hired Interactive Resources to restore the original
decorative features to the building and enhance accessibility for the
public. Final accessibility improvements, designed with careful attention
to maintaining the integrity of the historic restoration, included a
installation of a gradually sloped ramp, which was hidden behind a planter box
at the front entrance, and the addition of ramps at the two side entrances to
the building.
