Tile Failure Investigation and Structural Analysis

Interactive Resources conducted an investigation to determine the cause of tile
failure in the lobby of the Neoclassical style Contra Costa County Finance
Building. Originally, the floor was mosaic ceramic tile but had been
covered by the county with vinyl tile.
The lobby floor began buckling, causing safety as well as aesthetic
problems. The firm investigated both the floor and the building's
structural system, and determined that a number of factors had contributed to
the problem. Recommendations were given for various repair solutions to
correct the tile problem.
