structural/seismic improvements to repair and reinforce structurally deficient
and water-damaged glulam arches on this existing 40,000 square foot athletic
facility. Work also included installation of a new metal roof, concrete shear
wall, and minor accessibility improvements.
Roof replacement was required due to the severe deterioration of the existing
built-up roof at the arched portion of the structure. In addition, the
low-sloped roofs over the adjoining handball court structure and entry canopies
were chronically ponded.
Selection of a ribbed metal roof significantly improved the aesthetics of the
highly visible, arched roof portion of this structure, in addition to providing
a long-term low, maintenance system. Tapered insulation was added to low-sloped
roofs to correct drainage deficiencies, and new built-up roofing was installed.
