U.S. Border Station
Miscellaneous Repairs
San Luis, AZ
|
As part of our indefinite delivery contact with the General Services
Administration, Interactive Resources was retained to perform a variety of
repairs to the U S Border Station in San Luis, Arizona. The repairs generally
related to special needs of a facility located in the extreme hot and arid
climate found in the southwest corner of Arizona.
Site Topographical Survey: Existing "As-Built" documents did
not accurately reflect the actual conditions at the site. To provide correct
data and a sound basis for future work at the site, a new topographical survey
was completed.
Preliminary Storm Management Study: This preliminary work
determined that the storm system improvements would need to be completed in the
future, as allowed by the project budget.
Employee Parking Improvements: The employee parking area was
extended to provide an additional 20+ parking spaces. The entire area was
resurfaced and restriped. Four accessible parking stalls were included in the
project.
Site Paving Repairs: Repairs were completed to correct damage
primarily due to thermal expansion and contraction of the paving. Also the
truck dock ramp was repaired where corrosion of the reinforcing steel had
spalled the concrete pavement.
Auxiliary Water System: The local water supply is subject to
disruption during the summer. These disruptions could seriously impede the
normal government operations at the Border Station. To ensure a continuous
supply of water throughout the year, this project provided an auxiliary water
system, including a water storage tank, pumps, etc.
Replace Exterior Wall Sealant System: The extreme summer heat
at this location, typically reaching 116ยบ F in the shade, resulted in sealant
failure at the vertical joints between the tilt-up concrete panel walls of the
facility. This project replaced the sealant at all joints with new sealant.
