New York Life Insurance Company retained Interactive Resources to perform an
evaluation of the subject properties and provide a report, which included
seismic risk assessment of the subject buildings. Our review included
field observations, construction document review, and seismic risk analysis.
The buildings included in this project are One Embarcadero Center, Two
Embarcadero Center and the original Federal Reserve Bank Building located in
downtown San Francisco, adjacent to the financial center. They are part
of a chain of buildings beginning at the intersection of Market Street and
California Street just west of The Embarcadero and extending west to Sansome
Street.
One Embarcadero Center is a 47-story steel-framed office tower and a three-level
retail building with four levels of subterranean parking. Two Embarcadero
Center is a 35-story steel framed office tower and a three-level retail
building, both with four levels of subterranean parking. Both of these
buildings have curtain walls of pre-cast concrete elements and glass, and
were constructed in the early 1970’s. The Federal Reserve Bank
Building is a 7-story steel-framed building with masonry infill, and was
constructed in 1922. The buildings are connected not only at street level
but also at the third story level by open bridges.
