Gerlach Building
Seismic Upgrade
Point Richmond, CA
|
|
The owner of this three-story
commercial unreinforced masonry (URM) building in downtown Point Richmond
retained Interactive Resources to review the building, provide a seismic
analysis and design a seismic strengthening for the building, which is
approximately 10,000 square feet and includes a full height concrete
basement.
Interactive Resources conducted site visits to observe the building, reviewed
construction documents, and provided a lateral analysis and seismic upgrade of
the building. Our upgrade included parapet bracing, seismic ties from URM
walls to roof and floor framing, and floor diaphragm strengthening. Also
included in our design is the addition of two steel-braced frames at the
basement level, and related foundation work.
