Interactive Resources was selected by Sonoma County to design the remodel of
24,000 square feet of the La Plaza B Building for the Transportation/Public
Works Department.
The design included renovating existing toilet rooms and kitchen/break areas for
compliance with the ADA; and creating a new reception area, a new map room, and
a large conference room. Interior existing walls were realigned to provide
larger airy office spaces. The existing maze of small rooms was replaced with
orderly arrangements of system furniture workstations and offices for the
Construction and Survey crews, Traffic, Design, and Refuse divisions. New floor
finishes and ceiling systems completed the fresh new environment.
The 70’s era building infrastructure received the following upgrades: a new
roof, new HVAC equipment and ductwork, and electrical modifications to
accommodate increased power, telephone, and data requirements. Roof priorities
were initially focused on eliminating ponding due to deficiencies of the
original design, including inadequate drainage at the low side of the roof.
