De Paz Building Reroof
County of Sonoma
Santa Rosa, CA
|
The De Paz Building Reroofing project consisted of the removal and replacement
of the 10,700 square-foot existing built-up roofing system at the detention
wing of this Sonoma County court facility.
A cold-applied, APP modified bitumen system was selected for the new roof
membrane in order to mitigate the impact of application odors on the inmates
directly below; the inmates continuously occupied the space during
construction. In addition, this membrane type provided the above-average
quality, long-life, low-maintenance system desired by the client.
During the schematic phase, chronically ponded areas of the existing roof were
identified and a tapered polyisocyanurate insulation system was selected to
correct these deficiencies. In addition, the choice of polyisocyanurate
insulation significantly increased the overall thermal performance of the roof,
reducing the facility's energy costs for both heating and cooling.
