Interactive Resources’ engineering division was hired to evaluate the short- and
long-term structural stability of this one hundred year old, 15 foot tall, 170
foot long retaining wall located along Bancroft Avenue, on the UC Berkeley
campus.
The scope of services called for the evaluation of the existing retaining wall,
and included both destructive and non-destructive testing to estimate the
localized strength and condition of existing concrete and steel reinforcement.
Interactive Resources developed three options, along with their associated
costs, to provide long-term serviceability for the wall. Our engineers then
worked closely with the client and the project contractors during construction
to ensure the selected repair option was completed properly and on schedule.
