If you've called our office in the past twenty years, you've probably spoken to Pat Becker, an integral part of the front office operations of Interactive Resources. Pat has been an indispensable, loving employee who has often assumed the thankless job of "firm mother". But it's her real motherly role that is exceptionally impressive, and the story of her son Jason.
Jason Becker was a great rock-n-roll guitarist. As a young teenager, he recorded a solo album, Perpetual Burn, and two albums with the group Cacophony. In 1989, at the age of 19, Jason got the "big gig" - he was hired as David Lee Roth's lead guitarist. That same week he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).
In six months, he could no longer play the guitar (the hands and legs are the first to go) and had to quit the band after completing the album A Little Ain't Enough.
What should he do with a prognosis of three to five years to live? Jason parked himself in front of a computer and began composing music. For four years he raced the paralyzing effects of ALS to complete the CD. Warner Brothers recently released the CD Perspectives in the US.
