Since its inception in 2000, participation in the Three Brick Bridge Contest has expanded from two to eight Bay Area high schools.
For five years, this unique program has successfully demonstrated "hands-on" the connection between art and science, offering students insight into the structural engineering profession, and inspiring and energizing participating engineering professionals.
Students learn about a variety of types of bridges, and then design, build and test their own. An award ceremony at the end of the program recognizes individual bridges for excellence and awards Best of Show, Best in School, and other awards to the participants.
