# Santa Clara County Communications Center – Facility Condition Assessment

This project is one of many task orders under Interactive Resources, Inc.’ contract with Santa Clara County to provide architectural and planning services. This project entailed a comprehensive assessment of the building and various building systems for the Santa Clara County Communications Center Campus, a critical communications center for the County.

The main building was originally constructed circa 1959 but includes a 1977 addition plus a number of subsequent alterations. It is 26,580 square foot one-story structure with concrete and CMU exterior walls that houses the 911 dispatch area, radio and server rooms, administrative spaces, breakrooms and a maintenance shop. In addition, there is 1,600 square foot receiver vault – with an equipment/server room, conference room and restroom, constructed circa 1959 – and a 150-foot high antenna tower constructed in 2005.

The assessment included an architectural and structural evaluation; accessibility conditions; building envelope; roofing; mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; fire/life safety components and security systems. Findings and recommendations were presented in a written report along with cost estimates.
