LOCATION
Point Richmond, California

Baltic Square takes its name from the century-old Baltic Restaurant, a Point Richmond landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As a co-developer for this urban infill project, Interactive Resources provided comprehensive architectural and engineering services for the new 8,800 sf commercial building and the addition of a deck and expansion of the adjacent Baltic Restaurant. The main goal of this project was to create a sustainable, environmentally and contextually sensitive new mixed-use building while preserving the integrity and complimenting the style of its historic neighboring structures.

The front façade design incorporates bay windows, architectural exterior features and a parapet that reflect the historic fabric of a by-gone era.  The size, scale and shape of the new building, along with its exterior finishes, color scheme and other architectural details, pay homage to the adjacent historic structures.  Material selection was based upon a survey of surrounding buildings. The site, including the parking lot, is generously landscaped beyond zoning code requirements. Trees have been planted between parking spaces in the European style.
