This design challenge was to conceive of a boutique-style dispensary with a clean and sparse retail floor, while presenting cannabis in all its new forms. Additional goals were to provide the shop’s clientele with an enjoyable and educational experience without being overwhelming, and to accommodate state law unique to this retail environment.
Consistent brand identity is expressed in the exterior and interior forms, finishes and signage throughout. An abundance of windows provide natural daylighting and create a connection to the neighborhood outside. The facility includes a retail dispensary space with related offices, storage, lobby and breakroom. The modern aesthetic consists of a light and clean material palette, balanced with natural elements and materials.
A comfortable and sophisticated lounge-style sitting area is surrounded by several movable and illuminated display cases, bringing a sense of warmth and hospitality to the environment. Green wall panels are integrated into the design, providing full spectrum reflected lighting. A reception area is located at the entrance to greet customers, with drop ceiling lighting and modern seating arrangement.
Our services for this project included an initial screening phase of programming, retail methodology, interiors, lighting design, graphic design and district planning design; then upon selection, project entitlement, permitting, schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction administration.
