The Sebastopol Youth Annex, also known as the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, is located at 425 Morris Street in Sebastopol, California. Serving as a vital hub for community life, the Annex hosts a wide range of activities, including Planning Commission and City Council meetings, as well as youth and community classes such as dance, yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba, and karate.
The City of Sebastopol’s initiative to improve accessibility at the Youth Annex underscores its strong commitment to inclusivity and equal access for all residents. By addressing non-compliant elements identified in the building assessment report, the city is both adhering to ADA standards and ensuring the facility is welcoming and usable by all members of the community.
The project scope placed particular emphasis on exterior modifications, including site accessibility improvements and upgraded entrance doors, which are essential for creating an inclusive and approachable public facility. Interactive Resources provided architectural design services for interior and exterior accessibility upgrades, such as door threshold adjustments, door replacements, updated signage, and accessibility clearances for plumbing fixtures.
This project represents a thoughtful collaboration between the architect and City officials, balancing the goals of accessibility and community service with careful budget stewardship. The improvements reflect the City’s dedication to supporting its diverse population while ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly.
