As managing principal and director of design at Interactive Resources, Andrew is directly involved with all new design projects for the firm. Andrew is a hands-on principal who enjoys leading design teams as well as working directly with clients to help shape their vision and meet their facility needs in a creative and environmentally responsible manner. Andrew’s approach to design, whether a campus, a new building, or an alteration or addition to an existing building, starts with a deep understanding of the client’s needs and a contextual awareness of the project’s physical, social, historical, and cultural conditions.
Andrew believes strongly in a fully-integrated team approach to the conception and oversight of a project. He was a driving force in the firm’s early adoption of BIM technology, and is a proponent of leveraging the most current technology available for design, project management, and collaboration. He has particular expertise and interest in institutional, educational, industrial, and urban infill projects.
Andrew lives in Point Richmond with his wife Kim, who is an architect specializing in historic preservation, their two school-age children, and their dogs Ozark and Louie. He has served as planning commissioner for the cities of El Cerrito and Richmond, and chaired the Richmond Design Review Board and El Cerrito Planning Commission. Andrew is also very involved in the local community through his volunteer work as board president of Point Richmond Music, which he co-founded, and serves on boards of several local non-profits, including the Early Childhood Mental Health Program, the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Bay Area Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association.
