Redwood Middle is a public school located in Napa, California with a student population of 900 and the school serves 6th through 8th grades. Interactive Resources, Inc. was retained by Napa Valley Unified School District to provide architectural and engineering services for the Redwood Middle School Gymnasium and Locker Rooms (Building G). Services provided by Interactive Resources included construction documents/permitting, bidding, and construction administration services for the roof and HVAC replacement.

An initial roof assessment was conducted to verify existing conditions. The roofs were in very poor condition and needed replacement. The replacement included: removing the existing membrane roofing from both Locker Room roofs and the installation of a new modified bitumen system, including an addition 1.5 inches of rigid polyisocyanurate insulation (R9). Original roof drains were made fully functional; overflow provisions added. All perimeter detailing and penetrations received new flashings, and the replacement or roof restorations of Gymnasium building.

Decayed lumber observed in the roof deck and at the eaves of the Gymnasium were removed and repaired; existing built-in gutters were replaced with new hanging gutters at east and west elevations. Fascias were replaced at north and south elevations. The entire covered walkway system received upgrades.

We prepared construction documents for submittal to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and responded to DSA comments.
