After an extensive remodel by Interactive Resources, The City of San Carlos’ Youth Center has reopened its doors for service to the community. The City commissioned Interactive Resources to upgrade its existing twenty-year-old Youth Center to better reflect current programs and services. The Youth Center serves more than one hundred San Carlos middle-schoolers, and is home to a wide variety of after-school activities including music programs, sports, gymnastics, summer camp, special events and facility rentals.
The project began with a structural evaluation of the current condition of the gymnasium, as well as programming and space planning, and evolved into a complete remodel that included schematic design, construction documents, bidding and construction administration services.
New modifications were designed for the lobby, gymnasium, craft room, tv room, kitchen, restrooms and roof. These modifications included: lobby upgrades with new front counter and architectural finishes, gymnasium bleacher replacement, new gymnasium floor, roof upgrades, classroom kitchen replacement, interior and exterior disabled access upgrades, gym clerestory window replacement, and exterior cladding improvements.
