What it Means to be a Green Business: “People. Planet. Profit.”

Jan 23, 2019

Interactive Resources was first certified as a California Green Business in 2010, and we recently received re-certification following an in-depth quadrennial audit by the Contra Costa Green Business Program. What does it mean to be a green business? As summarized by the California Green Business Program: “People. Planet. Profit.” They elaborate:

“Being a Certified Green Business is the clearest way to show your community and customers that you care about sustainability. It shows them that you are committed to taking action to conserve resources and prevent pollution in both the facility and operations. It means that your business complies with environmental regulations in the areas of waste, energy, water, pollution prevention, and air quality.”

For Interactive Resources, being a green business also means providing architectural design, structural engineering and planning services with a focus on green building principles and strategies.  We have a long history of incorporating sustainable design principles and energy efficiency into all of our building designs. These principles mitigate negative impacts on the environment and reduce the consumption of natural resources, while improving building performance and providing a healthy environment to building occupants. We are committed to green business practices that protect our environment, create energy-efficient, sustainable design solutions for our clients and provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Our internal green team keeps us on track with a sustainable purchasing policy, recycling and green waste programs. And just a few weeks ago we received WaterSmart Business certification from EBMUD, joining a diverse group of businesses from the East Bay representing the best water savers in the District.

Since our founding in 1973, we have worked to stay at the forefront of sustainable and renewable practices. Keep in touch to see what we do in 2019 and beyond! And please reach out to discuss how to make your own business or facility greener.
